Site information
This site was began on 19 April 2002 and from there I furiously began working on it. This is the third layout I've made for Fayth and I wanted a more gritty layout than the last one had. This is an ingame shot which I captured myself from the flashback scenes where Auron, Braska and Jecht have reached the Yevon=Dome and are discussing what happens next. The navigation are pyreflies which I added in and softly under them are the Japanese words from the (JP: Song of Prayer) Hymn of the Fayth. The navigational alt messages as well as this layout's title, "and the DREAM was made flesh" are based on the life of Christ as chronicled in the Gospel of John. The title itself is a quote from the Prologue in which I changed Logos, the Word, to Dream; the information title "the way, the truth & the life" is another direct quote. Temptation, Passion, and Resurrection are all major events in Jesus' life.
While this may seem like a bizarre place from which to draw inspiration, Jecht in FFX is very much a sacrificial figure as well as someone who is dripping with religious Messianic imagery. He's a dream made real; he's the incarnation of evil; he's the savior of the world; and he's God in that he is the embodiment of Yevon. All the while, he's also human and frail, and a father who brings his son to this world to save it. These deeper symbols are what gave me the idea of using John as inspiration. It was in no way meant to trivalize anyone's religious viewpoints.
