One of Jecht's most legendary moves was the Jecht Shot, a dazzingly shot for the goal which Jecht executed to perfection for his adoring fans. One of Tidus' not-so-fond memories of his father is of a 7-year-old tow-headed child trying to master the Jecht Shot, only to have his father to tell him that no one in the world could do it but him. Even though Jecht was really trying to be nice in his odd, fumbling way, the memories plagued Tidus. But if he control the old ghosts of Jecht which haunt him, the son can master the Jecht Shot!
[The Jecht Shot]
On the boat from Kilika to Luca, Tidus, haunted by his father's memory, tries to once again master the Jecht Shot. If you can dispel the memories, Tidus can learn the move for use in future blitz games. The premise of the mini-game is simple. As Tidus trys to execute the moves, simply push the corresponding buttons to dispel the memories. If you fail, Tidus fails and does not learn the shot; if you're successful, he masters it. If you miss it the first time, never fear: simply take the boat from Kilika to Luca another time, and a blitzball will be waiting for Tidus to try his luck again, no matter how late in the game it might be.
In blitzball games, the shot is extremely useful because it can bounce off two of the opposing team members who are blocking you without costing any of Tidus' PA, as well as adding +5 to Tidus' SH and costing 120 HP. It's rather useful, especially at the lower levels, and it's a move that only he can use. Once Tidus has learned all three of his key techniques, he can learn the Jecht Shot 2, which can knock away three opposing players at a cost of 999 HP with +10 SH and the added effect of being an invisible shot.
