Battle

Braska's Final Aeon To defeat Sin, everything that Yu-Yevon possesses must be destroyed until the curse itself can be destroyed. Since Yu-Yevon uses the aeons, it is the aeons which must be sacrificed, starting with the one which has become Sin. The aeon for which Jecht is the fayth.

[The last battle]
The battle against Braska's Final Aeon -- Jecht -- is the beginning of the last series of battles against Sin. After dialogue, Jecht gives the go-ahead and turns himself over to Yu-Yevon. He remerges in an aeon-form. He comes in two forms; the first being weaponless, while the second one wields a massive sword. With "Otherworld" playing in the background, Tidus must defeat his father.

Draws power from the Yu Pagodas and unleashes Overdrive attacks, once his gauge is charged. Stop him from using his Overdrives. Have Tidus talk to lower the gauge.

[Attacks]
Braska's Final Aeon Jecht has two types of physical attacks: a one-handed smack which hits one character and a sweeping slash with his sword which hits all three. Other than basic physical attacks, the aeon uses Power Wave, which allows him to gather energy from the Yu Pagodas at his sides and the Jecht Beam, which is an energy beam attack. The Jecht Beam also petrifies when it hits. When he is in overdrive, he can use an attack -- not his Ovedrive -- called the Jecht Bomber, which hits one character with a Demi-like ball of energy. Another special attack he has is called "Triumphant Grasp," where he scoops up a character and crushes them in his huge paw (think King Kong) and then slams them down, dealing two separate damages. Its overdrive is called the Ultimate Jecht Shot during which it throws a huge comet like a blitzball.

[Talk]
Using the special trigger command Talk, Tidus can lower Jecht's OD gauge a few times during the battle. However, it only works a few times and only near the earlier stages of the battle. When it works, Jecht will become torn which accounts for his loss of OD gauge but once it's too late, words will no longer be able to reach him.

[Strategy]
Since this is the last big test before the game's finale, this battle is a hit-him-with-everything-you've-got kind of fight. Basically, Jecht will take a few turns before attacking, spending them gaining power from the Yu Pagodas, who can also cast Curaga on him. So, you need to hit him before he hits you. The Bradygames official guide recommends casting Zombie Attack -- which is Auron's skill -- on the Aeon to slice off some extra 9999 HP whenever the Pagodas try to heal him. Occasionally Jecht will use a petrification attack, so it's good if at least one person is immune to that, but not really necessary. Casting Hastega is a good idea, and then just unleash Overdrives and strong magic until he's gone. If any Aeons are in Overdrive, now's the time to use them. Doublecasting Ultima or Flare is a good choice. In fact, the first I defeated Braska's Final Aeon, all I used was Haste on my strongest magic user who Doublecast over and over.
